SONGS OF PARTING: A QUARTET FOR FOUR VIOLAS INSPIRED BY POEMS OF WALT WHITMAN (2025)
Songs of Parting is a three-movement suite for viola quartet inspired by the “Deathbed” poems in Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass. This work explores the rich, resonant, and often overlooked tenor colors of an all-viola ensemble, moving through a thematic cycle of life, anxiety, grief, and eventual celebration. SSAATTBB CHOIR
The Second Coming is a piece for a cappella choir using the text of the poem by William Butler Yeats. Yeats’ poem, written in 1919, is a dark and surreal imagining of the apocalypse reflecting the chaos and crisis of the world following World War I and the 1918 flu pandemic.
